Is the 2017 Mazda CX-5 Getting a Diesel Engine?

Mazda recently revealed its fully redesigned 2017 CX-5 which received a bolder high-end exterior design, a new body color and an interior designed to appease all passengers. For the new model year, the 2017 CX-5 will also be receiving an all-new engine option. Alongside the SKYACTIV-G 2.0 and SKYACTIV-G 2.5 direct-injection gasoline engine options, Mazda will be offering its first diesel engine model in the North American market.

In the second half of 2017, customers will be able to choose the 2017 CX-5 with the SKYACTIV-D 2.2 diesel engine. The new diesel engine provides a torque-rich driving experience and meets the region’s strict emission standards and makes the all-new CX-5 one of the most fuel-efficient vehicles in its class. The engine will also adopt Natural Sound Smoother and Natural Sound Frequency Control, technologies that reduce diesel knock for a quieter and more pleasing sound.
