What’s New in the 2019 Volkswagen SportWagen?
Some models see big changes with the new model year while others see only a little fine tuning here and there. Volkswagen decided to go big with changes to the 2019 Jetta and some surprising changes to the Atlas in only its second year, but now we’re on to the wagon version of the iconic Golf. Available in three different trim levels (S, S 4Motion, and SE), this is a viable choice for someone looking for more space than the conventional Golf. Changes to the 2019 Golf SportWagen weren’t quite as aggressive as the Jetta, but you’ll still notice a few changes. The first and most notable is in regards to performance. The front-wheel drive models will now receive a 1.4L turbocharged engine, the same as the one in the new Jetta. It gets 147 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. Should you choose the S 4Motion trim, you’ll get both all-wheel drive and a 1.8L turbocharged engine with 184 horsepower and 199 lb-ft of torque, which is the same as in 2018.
New features in the SE trim include 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels, LED headlights with the Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS), fog lights, auto-dimming rearview mirror, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Keeping System, (Lane Assist), and High Beam Control (Light Assist). The starting MSRP for the base Golf SportWagen S trim will be $21,895.
Head into the new year with a stylish wagon and ensure you’re never left trying to figure out what to do with all the extra cargo you have to bring along.
