New trim levels for the 2019 Atlas

It may only be year two in the existence of the Atlas, but Volkswagen is already shuffling around the trim levels. The Launch Edition trim has been replaced with the R-Line trim. The R-Line is a sportier trim across all Volkswagen models, and it’s offered in the middle of the trims so drivers can get the benefit of a sportier appearance while staying relatively low on price and still getting premium features. The trim levels are now, from least to most expensive:

  • S
  • SE
  • SE w/ Technology
  • SE w/ Technology R-Line
  • SEL
  • SEL R-Line
  • SEL Premium

The base S trim has a few more standard features that include Front Assist (forward collision warning and autonomous emergency braking), blind spot monitor, rear traffic alert, automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers and heated side mirrors. Even with these new features, the MSRP has only been raised slightly to $30,895. Other upgrades include a standard Volkswagen Digital Cockpit in the SEL and tri-zone automatic climate control in the SE.
