The all-new model for 2017 is the Golf Alltrack which is compact wagon that shares the same build as the Golf family. Keep reading to see the 2017 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack features and engine specs.  The 2017 Golf Alltrack will be equipped with a 1.8-liter four-cylinder TSI gasoline engine that is rated at 170 horsepower and 199 pound-feet of torque. At first, it will be available with a six-speed dual-clutch DSG automatic transmission and a six-speed manual transmission will be available at a later date. The Alltrack will have 4Motion all-wheel drive system and in normal driving, the Alltrack acts like a front-wheel drive car for better fuel economy but as soon as the system detects wheel slip, up to 50 percent of the drive torque can be shipped to the rear wheels.

The Golf Alltrack offers cargo volume that is comparable to compact SUVs. With the rear seats up, there is 30.4 cubic feet of space and when the 60/40 rear seats are fully folded, that number rises to 66.5 cubic feet. The interior of the Alltrack mimics the Golf SportWagen but with a touch of more upscale features including leatherette seating surfacecs, aluminum pedal covers, door sills with Alltrack branding, unique dashboard trim, and ambient lighting. Other standard features include a 6.5 inch color touchscreen, rearview camera and VW Car-Net App-Connect connectivity.

2017 Golf Alltrack Off-Road Capability and Features

The new Golf Alltrack was built for off-road capability and the Alltrack’s body has nearly an inch higher ground clearance over the SportWagen, which gives the Alltrack a more rugged off-road look. Unique bumpers, wheel wells and side sills give the Alltrack off-road protection and the front fascia incorporates foglights and a unique honeycomb grille. A drive mode selector includes “Off-Road Mode” which adds hill descent control and optimizes traction control for off-road terrain and the navigation system has an available Off-Road HMI that displays compass, steering angle and altitude when driving off-road.
