2018 Volkswagen Atlas Engine Specs
Volkswagen has announced their new seven-passenger SUV will be the VW Atlas and will be released as a 2018 model. The 2018 VW Atlas will be available with the choice of two powertrains, a 2.0-liter turbocharged and direct-injection TSI four-cylinder engine with 238 horsepower or a 3.6-liter VR6 engine with 280 horsepower. Both engines are paired with an eight-speed transmission to help maximize engine efficiency and the Atlas can be configured as either front-wheel drive or with available 4Motion all-wheel drive in VR6 trims. The 4Motion system will also feature a Driving Mode Selection feature that allows the driver to select specific parameters based on driving conditions.
2018 WV Atlas Available Driver Assistance Features
The new Volkswagen Atlas will offer a number of available driver assistance features, which had previously been reserved for premium SUVs, at an affordable level. The available driver assistance features include Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning, and Parking Steering Assistant.

Also, the Atlas is the only vehicle in its class to offer the Automatic Post-Collision Braking System. This system is built on the idea that a collision is rarely a single, instantaneous action, but rather a series of events that follow the initial impact, the most significant of which can cause additional collisions. The Automatic Post-Collision Braking System addresses this by applying the brakes when a primary collision is detected by the airbag sensors, helping reduce residual kinetic energy and the chance of additional damage.
2018 VW Atlas Release Date
