What is i-ACTIV AWD?
The i-ACTIV AWD system is the Mazda proprietary dynamic drivetrain. It monitors multiple things simultaneously, like the wheel slippage, dynamic stability control, power steering, acceleration, braking, wiper speed, and temperature. When the i-ACTIV system detects the right combination of factors, it automatically calculates the amount of torque needed to counteract the slippage. It does this almost instantaneously, sending the perfect amount of power to the rear axle.
