Mazda Car Named 2019 Best Women’s World Car of the Year
Everyone wants something different from their vehicles. Those necessities are decided by multiple factors, one of which is gender. Don’t believe us? Here’s a statistic: only around 16% of people who own a domestic-made truck are female. One way to explain this is jobs differences. For example, careers that benefit from owning a truck, like construction or mining, are predominantly male. Females make up only 9.9% and 13.8% of each respective industry. If gender differences make different cars better for different people…
Then what’s the best car for women?
Women’s World Car of the Year Winner
The 2019 Mazda3 won the 2019 Women’s World Car of the Year. The panel consists of 30 female judges from 30 different countries. They rate each vehicle according to the following criteria: “safety, value-for-money, aesthetic appearance, storage space, child–friendliness, ease-of-driving, colour, sex appeal and environmental footprint.” Each judge is a prominent automotive writer and an expert in their field. Many having professional racing experience.
Competition is fierce. Votes decide the car selection. Judges cast new votes on cars from the selected pool. The winner of the second vote is named Car of the Year. To contextualize the type of competition that the 2019 Mazda3 faced, the top three from 2018 were the Volvo XC40, the Jaguar E-PACE, and the Jaguar I-PACE.
