2020 Mazda CX-9 Trim Comparison: Touring vs Grand Touring
The crossover market is super competitive. With every automaker having at least three to four options, companies really have to work to differentiate themselves. Luckily, Mazda has been doing so since the beginning.
Today, we’ll be looking at the Touring and Grand Touring trims of the 2020 Mazda CX-9. Keep reading to see why they’re excellent and you should consider each.

Every 2020 CX-9 comes standard with a turbocharged 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G four-cylinder engine. It pumps out 227 horsepower with regular fuel and 250 horses with premium. FWD is standard, AWD available on all trims except Signature, where AWD is standard. Each CX-9 also has the i-Activsense suite, which includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning with lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and stop-and-go cruise control. A rearview camera and automatic rain-sensing wipers as also standard.
The Touring gets a lot of quality-of-life improvements over the Sport trim. Leather upholstery is standard. The Touring gets a 9-inch touchscreen (up from the standard 7-inch one), Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, remote start, and a power liftgate. The optional Touring Premium package adds second-row captain’s chairs, a one-touch power-sliding moonroof, a 12-speaker Bose Centerpoint surround sound audio system, and satellite radio. It also adds front and rear parking sensors and LED fog lights.
Grand Touring Features
The 2020 CX-9 Grand Touring inherits all the features from the Touring and the Touring Premium package, as well as adding a few comfort, convenience, and safety features. Ventilated front seats, heated second-row captain’s chairs, and a heated steering wheel are standard. Automatic power-folding side mirrors, a hands-free power liftgate, and integrated navigation are standard too. The Grand Touring also gets a surround-view parking camera system, traffic sign recognition, and adaptive headlights.
