Performance Specs

When you buy a hot hatch like the 2020 Golf GTI, you expect performance. The 2020 GTI delivers. It has a 228-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged direct-injected four-cylinder. It comes with the standard six-speed manual or the excellent racing seven-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission. With the available DCC adaptive chassis dampers, VAQ limited-slip locking front differential, and performance brakes, the 2020 Golf GTI will do just as well on the track as it will on the highway. It has an adjustable autobahn-tuned sport suspension that can switch between eco, comfort, normal, sport, and custom driving modes.

The 2020 GTI has plenty of standard tech features, like a crisp and responsive 6.5-inch touchscreen, a lightning-fast USB-C port, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, MirrorLink, an integrated Wi-Fi hotspot that can support up to four devices at once, and a free five-year subscription to Car-Net® remote services. Other available features include a moonroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, push-button ignition, an upgraded 8-inch touchscreen, an additional USB port, an eight-speaker premium Fender sound system, and integrated navigation.

Seating and Cargo Space

While most people probably are looking to buy a hot hatch for the cargo space, it nice to know that the 2020 Golf GTI still has it if you need it. Its two rows of seats are both spacious and fit adults with ease and comfort. With the rear seats folded down, that ample personal space turns into a surprising amount of cargo space. It goes from 22.8 cu-ft with the seats in place to 52.7 cu-ft, which rivals some of the leading crossovers on the market.
