Shared Features

The SEL and SEL Premium are powered by a 1.4-liter turbo-four that puts out 147-horses. The engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic for both trims (the six-speed stick from the S and R-Line trims isn’t available here). Fuel economy is estimated at 30/40/34. Both trims have just about everything from the trims before them; for a full list of features, check out our S vs SE vs R-Line comparison.

SEL Features

The SEL pumps the tech factor up to 11. It gets an upgraded 8-inch touchscreen, HD and satellite radio, a premium eight-speaker BeatsAudio sound system, the 10.25-inch Volkswagen Digital Cockpit, and wireless device charging. But that’s not all it gets. It also adds a heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, and remote start. The safety suite gets a boost too, with adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, auto high beams, and rain-sensing wipers.

SEL Premium Features

The SEL Premium is the icing on the cake, rounding out an already-excellent package with luxurious inclusions. Perhaps the most noticeable feature is the leather upholstery. Similarly, the standard front seats are switched out for sport seats. The driver’s seat also gets eight-way power-adjustability. And last, but certainly not least, the SEL Premium gets integrated navigation.
