2020 Volkswagen Tiguan Trim Comparison: S vs SE | Milwaukee
The 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan is one of the only three-row crossover SUVs on the market today. As such, many people are interested it. And for good reason. It’s spacious and well-built, oozing that signature German minimalism and practicality.
Today, we’ll be comparing two 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan trims: the S and the SE. Each has a lot to offer, so let’s take a look at what differentiates them.

The 2020 Tiguan comes in four trims: S, SE, SEL, and SEL Premium. Every 2020 Tiguan, regardless of trim, comes with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. It produces 186 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque. Each engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. FWD is standard, but AWD is available. The FWD models get 22/29/25 mpg, while the AWD models get 20/27/23 mpg.
The 2020 Tiguan S is the base trim. However, it’s loaded with features. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard. A 6.5-inch touchscreen, a USB input/charging port, and an integrated Wi-Fi hotspot are also standard. The Tiguan S has cloth upholstery and alloy wheels. Safety-wise, the Tiguan S comes with blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, and a rearview camera.
The 2020 Tiguan SE adds a bunch of convenience and comfort features. The 6.5-inch touchscreen is upgraded to an 8-inch one. Two additional USB ports are added, as are HD and satellite radio. Push-button start and proximity keyless entry are standard too. When it comes to comfort, the Tiguan SE gets dual-zone automatic climate control, synthetic leather upholstery, heated front seats, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. A panoramic sunroof is also available.
