Standard three-row seating is the calling card of the 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan. It is one of the only three-row midsize crossover SUVs available. Let us show you some of the excellent features you can expect.

Below, you’ll find our comparison of the two 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan entry level trims: the S and the SE. Both offer many excellent features for modest prices. Take a look to see which is right for you.

Performance Specs

Both the 2021 Tiguan S and SE sport a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine under the hood. The engine pumps out 184 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque and is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. FWD is standard for both trims, but AWD is available. The FWD models are rated at 22/29/25 mpg; AWD models are rated at 20/27/23 mpg.

S Features

The 2021 Tiguan S is the base trim, starting at $25,245 for FWD and $26,545 for AWD. The Tiguan S has a lot more to offer than just standard three-row seating. Standard features include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, an integrated Wi-Fi hotspot, a 6.5-inch touchscreen, and a USB input/charging port. Alloy wheels and premium cloth upholstery are also standard. On the safety side of things, the 2021 Tiguan S comes with forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and a rearview camera.

SE Features

The 2021 Tiguan SE is next step up. It starts at $27,395 for FWD and $28,695 for AWD. As expected, it gets a number of improvements over the S trim. Among them are an 8-inch touchscreen, two more USB ports, SiriusXM satellite radio, HD Radio, push-button start, and proximity keyless entry. Other SE additions include synthetic leather upholstery, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. The popular panoramic sunroof option is also available starting at the SE trim.
