The 2018 VW Atlas is the only vehicle in its class to offer Automatic Post-Collision Braking System, which is standard on all models. The system applies the brakes when a primary collision is detected by the airbag sensors, helping to reduce the residual kinetic energy and chance of additional damage. All models also feature a rearview camera, the Atlas S is equipped with a basic rearview camera, while the Atlas SE, SE with Technology and SEL feature a rearview camera with dynamic guidelines and additional perspectives.

The Atlas offers a number of standard and available driver assistance systems, including Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Monitoring (Front Assist), Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning, front and rear Park Distance Control, Parking Steering Assistant, High Beam Control and Overhead View Camera.
